In a college sports-loving state dominated by UCONN Athletics, Quinnipiac needed to drive attendance to basketball and hockey games. We touted the excitement of the match-ups and the impressive sports facility itself to bring legitimacy to the program and appeal to local sports fans. A mix of event-driven and image-building media drove individual game ticket sales while strengthening the Quinnipiac athletics brand. As a result, season, game-day and online ticket sales increased steadily every year for 3 years. The 2013-14 season saw its largest attendance in school history and the men’s hockey games in particular were almost all sell outs.
